A million times

Swedish Design Studio Human since 1982 combined 288 analogue clocks to create this installation of shifting monochrome patterns, forming letters and numbers. This piece is called ‘A Million Times’ for Victor Hunt Designart and features 576 motors which can be controlled via a customized software on an iPad.

Bottled History

Ray Gascoigne has been around boats his whole life, as a shipwright, a merchant sailor, and now as a ship builder on the smallest dry dock there is: a bottle. This short film, by Smith Journal and Melbourne-based production studio Commoner, picks through the wood chips to tell the story of a craft honed over 60 years, and the man behind it.

Soundsculpture

Daniel Franke created a moving sculpture from the recorded motion data of a real person. A dancer had been recorded by three cameras while visualizing a musical piece with her body. The camera also reacts to sound and supports the physical imitation of the musical piece by the performer.

Choros

‘Choros’ is the latest experimental art film by Michael Langan, that explores the movement of the human body, specifically the motion of a female dancer. Langan layered 32 sequential instances of a single movements and stretched them out over time. Thus he created a hypnotic impression, making us feel like watching the waves in the ocean.
