Bildhauer wie Canova, Bartolini und Houdon beeinflussen nach eigener Aussage Thom Puckeys Arbeiten. Seine Skulpturen haben in der Regel etwas gemeinsam: Sie stellen meist weibliche Körper dar, sie sind nackt und tragen eine Waffe bei sich. Eine Kombination die provoziert und einige als billig bezeichnen würden, jedoch gerät es sofort in Vergessenheit wenn man einen Blick auf seine außergewöhnlichen Werke wirft.

Alex Kisilevich hat im vergangenen Jahr sein Fotografie Studium an dem Ontario College of Art & Design mit Auszeichnung abgeschlossen. Momentan macht er seinen Master of Fine Arts in Visual Arts an der York University. Seine außergewöhnlichen Fotografien wurden bereits in Washington, Boston und seiner Heimatstadt Toronto ausgestellt.

Über das New York City Polaroid Project bin ich auf den Fotografen und Webdesigner Andrew Faris vor ein paar Wochen aufmerksam geworden. 2003 zog er nach New York und begann mit der Polaroid Kamera der Eltern von seiner neuen Heimat Fotos zu schießen. Die komplette Sammlung hat er nun auf NYCPP archiviert.

Er visualisierte im Look eines Buchcovers beliebte Web Dienste wie Twitter oder Youtube und setze gekonnt und kritisch einige Google Produkte grafisch um. Fast täglich lädt er neue interessante und unterhaltsame Illustrationen auf sein Flickr Profil hoch:

Joshua Kissi startete vor circa 2 Jahren zusammen mit Travis Gumbs das Street Etiquette Blog. Von New York aus schreiben die beiden über ihre Vorstellung von Stil. Bei ihren Beiträgen stehen immer einzelne Kleidungsstücke wie zum Beispiel der Duffle Coat, die Krawatte oder der Bootsschuh im Fokus, die von ihnen selbst vor der Kamera präsentiert werden.

Bei der unüberschaubaren Menge an Modeblogs, die momentan das Internet überfluten ist Street Etiquette meiner Meinung nach eine der innovativsten und stilsichersten Seiten.

Jake Davis kommt aus Manhatten, NY und studierte an der Tisch School of the Arts in New York. Noch während seines Filmstudiums bekam er von der Wieden Kennedy Werbeagentur den Auftrag bei einem Kurzfilm für Nike Regie zu führen. Es folgten Konzert Videos, Tour Visuals und EPKs für Sony, Columbia, Fat Beats und viele mehr.

Nach seinem Abschluss im Jahr 2002 ging er mit Eminem, Ludacris, Xzibit, Papa Roach, und den X-ecutioners auf die Anger Management Tour. Dort drehte er für die “Built To Scratch” DVD, die über Koch Entertainment veröffentlicht wurde.

Jakes mehrfach preisgekrönter Film “At Low Resolution” wurde auf der Eröffnungs- veranstaltung des Tribeca Film Festivals gezeigt und daraufhin zu weiteren zahlreichen Festivals rund um den Globus eingeladen. Sein zweiter Kurzfilm “Come Lovely” schaffte es bis ins Finale der Academy Awards.

Er produzierte Musik Videos und Dokumentarfilme für unter anderem My Chemical Romance, Flyleaf, Kanye West, 50 Cent, Nelly, T.I., Snoop Dogg, Korn und OneRepublic.

Als wäre das noch nicht genug, schreibt er noch für mehrere Blogs über Mode bzw. Film und führt regelmäßig Regie bei den Videos der Skate- und Streetwear Marke Supreme.

Letzte Woche habe ich bereits hier über die amüsante Visitenkarte von der Grafik Designerin Sarah Ferrari aus Brighton, UK berichtet. Da ich sie für sehr talentiert halte und ihr Name mir einfach nicht mehr aus dem Kopf gehen will, habe ich sie gestern zu einem kurzen “Fill-in” gebeten:

When I was little, I wanted to be an artist but didn’t understand that you could do that for a living.
Today I am cold. When does spring start?
In the future I would like to keep getting creative briefs that are inspiring as well as being my job. And go for a bike ride every morning.
Life would be much better if I went for a bike ride every morning.

Then I go and sit at my computer at my new desk. In my living room!

Markus Georg lebt in Berlin und arbeitet seit seinem Diplom 2008 an der HfG Offenbach im weitesten Sinne fotografisch. Mit seiner Arbeit „Die Macht der Bilder“ war er einer der Gewinner von „gute aussichten – junge deutsche fotografie 2008/09“.

Als ich klein war wollte ich immer draußen spielen.
Heute bin ich 30.
In der Zukunft möchte ich gesund bleiben.
Das Leben wäre viel schöner, wenn vieles etwas besonnener wäre.
Wenn ich morgens aufstehe schau ich erstmal raus.
Danach gehe ich öfter mal zu Melek (Bäcker).
Meine Arbeit ist jetzt zum 1. Mal kein Job mehr.
Oft denke ich: juhuu!
Kreativität ist ein Segen.
Kunst sollte wirkliches Allgemeingut sein.
Ich rege mich auf, wenns nicht mehr anders geht.
Ich muss lachen, wenn die Sonne scheint.
Ohne meine Liebsten kann ich nicht leben.

Vor ein paar Tagen brachte mir der Postbote eine Dose mit dem Weihnachtsmüsli von mymuesli. Dazu gab es ein kleines Säckchen von Swarovski mit hunderten kleinen Glitzersteinchen, die mir beim Auspacken leider auf den Boden gefallen sind und jetzt in der ganzen Wohnung verteilt in allen Ritzen ihren Lebensabend verbringen müssen.

Grund dieser netten Überraschung ist die alljährliche “Ein Herz für Kinder” Auktion, bei der eine mymuesli Dose mit 1400 CRYSTALLIZED™ – Swarovski Elements veredelt wurde. Diese könnt ihr noch bis zum 17. Dezember bei ebay ersteigern.

Aus diesem Anlass habe ich gleich noch den Mitgründer von mymuesli Max Wittrock gebeten bei “Fill-in” mitzumachen. Da momentan alle Blogs sich mit Verlosungen überbieten, dachte ich mir, dass diese Aktion doch mal eine nette Alternative dazu ist.

Als ich klein war wollte ich was mit Film machen.
Heute bin ich glücklich.
In der Zukunft möchte ich, dass sich alles so weiterentwickelt, aber es sieht gut aus.
Das Leben wäre viel schöner, wenn man es für andere öfter schöner machen würde.
Wenn ich morgens aufstehe, dann freue ich mich sehr auf Kaffee.
Danach gehe ich einen Kaffee trinken.
Meine Arbeit ist schön.
Oft denke ich an vieles gleichzeitig und starre in den Raum.
Kreativität ist wichtig für unsere Arbeit, das ist sehr erleichternd.

Heute gibt es mal wieder eine neue Kategorie. “Fill-in” ist ein von mir unvollständig formulierter Text, den ich an Künstler, Designer, usw. schicke. Ihre Aufgabe ist es dann die Lücken mit ihren eigenen Worten zu füllen. Hoffe ihr habt Spaß dabei! Den Anfang macht der Designer Julian Bender / JB89 aus Mannheim:

Als ich klein war wollte ich Astronaut werden.
Heute bin ich Student.
In der Zukunft möchte ich weiterhin zeichnen, basteln und sinnvolle oder sinnlose Dinge gestalten.
Das Leben wäre viel angenehmer, wenn so mancher ab und an etwas mehr Spaß verstehen würde.
Wenn ich morgens aufstehe, wird zunächst nach dem Wetter geschaut – es folgt die Routine.
Danach gehe ich zur Straßenbahn und treffe dort Leonie mit zwei Kaffee in der Hand, mit Milch und Zucker, bitte.
Meine Arbeit ist im besten Fall außergewöhnlich spannend und inspirierend, manchmal aber auch das Gegenteil.
