Sculptures Whipped Into Shape By The Wind

Italian fine art photographer Guiseppe Lo Schiavo’s ‘Wind Sculptures’ are an experimental tribute to the both the unpredictable power of nature and to the warmth of the human spirit.

“The thermal blanket is an iconic material, a symbol of salvation and generosity of the human being.”For the first time, Lo Schiavo took part in the works, holding up a thermal weather blanket to “create an empirical union of theatrical sculpture and the nature.” Captured across Europe in 2015, in locations from Iceland to Portugal and Greece, the project remains topical today. The artist explains, “The material used for my project is the same used by the coast guard to protect the migrants from the cold or from the sun as soon as they reach the coast from the sea. The thermal blanket is an iconic material, a symbol of salvation and generosity of the human being.” To see ‘Wind Sculptures’ in motion, take a look at a performance that occurred in Iceland in 2015.
