A Concrete House With Several Gardens In São Paulo

The architects from Brazilian studio METRO designed a house with several terraces and gardens, blurring the boundary between interior and exterior.

Located in Jardim Paulistano, a residential neighbourhood of São Paulo, BN House includes four volumes at different heights, executed in concrete and linked by a series of glazed circulation pathways. However, despite using exceptionally strong material, the architects didn’t leave the house closed to the outside. They included numerous terraces and gardens in their project, arranging them in a way that enhances the connection between the exterior and the interior.

Founded in 2000 in the city of São Paulo, architecture studio METRO leads a wide range of projects, from temporary exhibitions and installations to master planning and urban interventions. “The relationship between the buildings and their context is carefully considered in all of our projects,” say the architects. Staying up to date with the most current trends in architecture, they also maintain close ties to the Modernist tradition, collaborating frequently with renowned Modernist architect Paulo Mendes da Rocha.
