Lights That Rebalance The Body Clock By Éléonore Delisse

Words

For her graduate project at Design Academy Eindhoven, designer Éléonore Delisse created a time and light piece as a response to the lack of daylight in winter. The lights oscillate over a 24-hour period, projecting colors to rebalance the body clock – from blue in the morning to a warm glow at night. The project was initiated as a response to Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), and received the Wallpaper “Design Enhancer of the Year” award in 2015. Speaking of the project, Delisse explained, “All the existing solutions to SAD focus on the intensity of light, I was interested to look at this from another perspective. Not only by being only exposed to certain lux levels, but by having a colored rhythm that influences your brain behavior.”
