Sironi – Il pane di Milano is a lately established bakery making original Italian baked goods in the Markthalle Neun, Berlin Kreuzberg. It was founded by Alfredo Sironi who comes from Mailand, Italy. In cooperation with his Italian team he starts at 5 o’clock in the morning to bake new crispy bread and other Mediterranean snacks. A special feature of this unique bakery isn’t only the delicious bread, which implies a sense of the south-European flair, but also the concept of the bakers shop. It is completely accessible for the views of the interested clientele, getting the opportunity to witness almost the whole baking process. Several working steps can be followed – from mixing the organic ingredients, to the baking procedure to the selling of the just out of the oven taken bread. For Alfredo Sironi it’s self-evident to work with northern-Italian bake traditions old recipes and utmost passion. For his Ciabatta, Pane di Grano Duro, Focaccia alla genovese, Pane alle Olive, Panettone, Colomba pasquale, Grissini, Pizza and more, a visit is more than worth and it’s truly as delicious as it sounds.

ALPENSTÜCK

At the corner of Schröderstraße/Gartenstraße in Berlin Mitte, unfolds Iris Schmied’s little universe; the Alpenstück. It includes a restaurant, a bakery and a manufactory where only hand made delicacies are offered. The lovely arranged rooms assemble themselves at the end of the street and present tasty culinary specialities from south Germany. The master baker carries the craft since decades and he educates his apprentices carefully for they aren’t used to mix the dough and to form buns and pretzel rolls by hand nowadays. The result is a wide range of the most tasty baked goods which a growing number of customers appreciates every day. Iris is rightly proud of her little establishment which values quality and sustainability. There is a small branch called Alpenstückle in Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf.

BEUMER & LUTUM

Beumer & Lutum is an organic bakery out of conviction. ‘We give our best to produce good bread and fine pastries everyday.’ The bakery was founded in 1993 by Tony Beumer und Christa Lutum. The tasty bread you can purchase here is made with the attentive craftmanship of valuable products, coming from organic growth and local ingredients. Different from other bakeries, Beumer & Lutum works without any prepared flour mixtures. Another feature is the time they give their dough to process. It only gets its perfect mellowness through enough kneading and rest. And you can taste the difference. Since 2006 customers can enjoy their breakfast, lunch or the handmade coffee cake in a pleasant atmosphere in their store in Friedrichshain, Cuvrystraße 22. There are three more Beumer & Lutum branches situated in Berlin, find them here.
