With its 55 million years the Namib desert is the oldest desert in the world. Loosely translated the name means something like a place where nothing exists. Surrounded by endless plains, sand and the sea you find yourself in an hostile environment. An unreal place that harbors a rough beauty.

At the northern part the skeleton coast extends with its ship cemetery where many ships and whales stranded at the coast, leaving behind an eerie atmosphere. The german photographer Anke Nunheim had the opportunity to capture this rugged belle from the air on her journey through Namibia. The seclusion, silence and vastness continue to have an effect when you already feel the ground under your feet again.
