Ophelia by Cristina Robles

Words

The young woman in Cristina Robles’ pictures seems absent, sad and a bit gloomy. Referring to Shakespeare’s character Ophelia, from the well known tragedy ‘Hamlet’, she creates images with a strong pictorial language.

The much depicted theme has also captured Cristina Robles and her fascination with a young woman full of desperation, disillusioned and broken, that drowns in a brook. The Spanish photographer captures the sensitive and fragile expression of Ophelia’s seemingly great ease, touching the viewer with her strong imagery and surreal seeming scenes in an unexpected way.
