Last week iGNANT went strolling through the galleries of Berlin, looking for inspiring artists and artworks. Our first discovery was Asger Carlsen at Dittrich & Schlechtriem Gallery, a Danish artist living and working in New York. Looking at his exhibition called ‘Hester’ I was quite confused what I was actually looking at. Photographs? Sculptures? Collages? Carlsen creates pictures of models having weird additional body parts that are made of modelling compound. He is deconstructing forms to reassembe them with the goal not just to depict human bodies, but to render a vivid experience of them.
‘Hester’ is up and running until the 16th of March at Dittrich & Schlechtriem, Tucholskystraße 38, 10117 Berlin.
Second found was at Aando, right across the street. The artist duo Andreas Greiner and Armin Keplinger exhibit their artwork ‘Aspect Ratio’, that demonstrates in a subtle way the manifold possibilities to perceive and picture time and space. Both visualize transformations by the use of different states of aggregation. Thus time is given a shape which constantly changes itself. They are using wax and water to describe their understanding of the process. Go and have a look yourself.
‘Aspect Ratio’ is on display until the 8th of March at Aando, Tucholskystrasse 35, 10117 Berlin.

Hehe, ja Dieter man befindet sich so etwas zwischen Neugier und Ekel. Aber die Neugier gewinnt ja dann meistens doch ;)
