Artist Babis created this sculpture named ‘hedonism(y) trojaner’ out of resin and recycled computer buttons. The horse is well known from the greek mythology, where it granted the Greeks access to the city of Troja. Recreated of hundreds of buttons, the essences of communication, Babis’s sculpture is pointing out an unpleasant truth. The internet itself, not only its viruses deserves the term ‘Trojan’. We are looking for information via internet, we share it and pass some on, voluntary or involuntary. We define ourselves by Facebook profiles, find our jobs online, buy teddy bears or google side effects of viagra. The internet as a medium, humans stuck with their hedonism.

As a horseman, there is an entirely different level of hedonism I can see in the relationship we have with horses themselves. And yes, we use the Internet to share information on training, housing, managing, feeding, and owning these animals. In the end, we have manipulated the horse's genetics to get the tractability, sizes, shapes, colors, and quality of coat, mane and tails we want. We use products to make them shiny, to color their hooves, and ward off flies. We "dress" them in the hides and hair of other animals, silver, gold and even jewels. And we want to train them so that we control their every move. That's a terribly negative look at the life I love. Of course, I think the sculpture is all about: Beware, our pursuit of technology and "things" harbors our own destruction.
