As we stumble in the backyard of the concept store Merci, to hide from a sudden shower we recognize the cute little Fiat 500 in a bright red, standing in front of the shop. As we get to know later, the little car will be stuffed with plants or items from the shop every now and then, depending on occasion and season.
The store opened in 2009 and besides to the actual shop you will find a café, a bookstore and a restaurant. On 1,500 qm, located in the music- and biker area, close to Marais you can find everything you actually didn’t look for. Merci provides a vast offer of attractive and very ‘french’ products, like designer and vintage clothing (Isabel Marant, Stella McCartney, YSL, etc.), chic furniture, flowers, books or prafum (e.g. Annick Goutal). In the extensive hall you can snoop round for hours and find everything from a pen to a couch or a soap to a jacket. Merci is founded by Bernard and Marie-France Cohen, who already succeeded with their children clothing brand enfantine Bonpoint. The net income of Merci is donated to socially disadvantaged children in Madagascar. We say ‘Merci’ for such a modern, appealing concept with a high social awareness in an aesthetic atmosphere.
