Sam Schubert

Sam Schubert findet in ihrer Serie ‘Learning to Love the State I Am In’ ihre eigene Methode sich an eine neue Umgebung anzupassen.

‘Learning to Love the State I Am In highlights the sudden and unpredictable changes of the landscape in the city. Having spent my childhood amidst the dense and beautiful woods of upstate New York, I developed a keen interest in being part of and observing the natural environment and the unconscious repetition that surrounds oneself. As a stranger to the urban environment of Baltimore, I focus on integrating oneself into the materials and environments found around the city.’

i find it wonderful to see creativity in any form... especially when it makes me scroll for more... whether repetitive or not... what we like or not is so personal... and if #ausgelutscht# we are just admitting to be part of a larger audience of critics... (not very individual...) rather than makers of cutting edge art... or not?
ps. i like your shots... although i have seen bodies in nature before... where they belong... is what is, repetitive? is photographing a car with driver repetivive... or a pool with swimmer... or does it just remind us so strongly of another artistic expression which may have been en vogue a while ago... and why are we so critical... from: why i left berlin?

@Roger: Creativity to me means to 'create' an idea. Something special. Just 'making' something, isnt creative in this sense. Sure, you can take pictures of everyday situations and call it creative - as long as there is something special about it. Colours, mood, surroundings... whatever.
This series isnt about everyday situations. It is based on the idea of placing a human body in its environment in an unfamiliar way. And this idea - in this exact way! - I have seen a lot of times before. I could go out now, do the same in my city and post the pictures tomorrow. Would you call me a creative guy then?
