Luca Mantovanelli

Mesdames et Messieurs! ARCADEMI Nummer 12 mit 6 Fragen und einem Künstler. Luca Mantovanelli erweist uns in dieser Woche die Ehre.

Please introduce yourself:
My name is Luca Mantovanelli, I was born the 11th of June 1984. I’m from Northern Italy, somewhere around Brescia. I lived there until the end of high school, then I moved to Milan because I wanted to study architecture at ‘Politecnico’. Then, one year and something ago I came in London for looking for some new challenges and inspirations. Now I’m collaborating with a really cool practice, in London, of course.

Let’s imagine you were a dinner menu, what would be served tonight?
Wow, what a interesting question. As I’m italian, I would serve just italian food, because the chef would be my mum and my grandmother…so…tortellini, risotto, “gnocco” with Parma ham, pizza, Tiramisù…ok, now I’m starving!

Why did you move to the place you are currently living?
As I told you I wanted to do an experience in other country, even because in Italy, unfortunatly, you are not taken much seriously if you want to work in the art field. Here in London, I found a small “arty” community that helped me a lot…but there’s still a lot to do anyway.

What is your most beloved and exercised ritual?
Breakfast. I can’t survive without eating sweets (better if cakes) in the morning!

Is there currently something overestimated in your opinion?
Architecture. At the end architects don’t do nothing special, they have to answer to a need, like eating and sleeping.

What do your parents think of your choice of profession?
I think they are quite happy, because i’m doing a lot things I enjoy and they are always supporting me. I have to thank them every single day. But sometimes I forget it.
