Please tell us a little bit about yourself – where are you from and what do you do?
Hi Clemens, I’m Diego, from Verona, a city close to Milan. I’m an illustrator and designer, owner, in half-part of StudioFantastico a creative agency based in Milan that I started in 2009.

Why do collages interest you so much?
I love collages because I use photoshop all the day and after 8 hours it’s so boring!I love the feeling of paper, glue and scissors and when I start a new collage, I’m really surprised at the end of it. Always.
Is there a particular message in your collages?
Maybe that we can find elegance where it’s not supposed to be. I mean, with different images and styles we can built something beautiful, I’m trying to do this.

How do you describe your style of work?
This is hard…I prefer to say that for me it’s normal, everything I do in my life starts with a big mess, and after some trying I find what I want and what I need.
Are your prints available for sale?
Yes under request…
What does creativity mean for you?
Creativity is the solution of ours troubles and if we can go ahead in this society is only thanks the creatives mind.

What do you do in your free time?
I need to keep me busy! When I’m not working I need to work on something else. Many times I get my contribution to ContemporaryStandard, a friend’s blog, one of the best in Italy. Often I spend my free-time playing music, a sort of cut’n'paste music, yes as the collages…
Your favourite artists?
From the past, Roy Lichtenstein, I think he painted the best Pop-art ever. Great words inside a comics, in giant sizes hand-painted…awesome! In these years, one of my favourite artist is Stefan Sagmeister, his vision about art and communication blows my mind. And also Pharrell. Great musician, a lot of style.

Where do you get your inspirations from?
My insipirations comes from the web, television, books, advertisings, the common life.
All the people I know use this media to get some insipirations, it’s normal now and also for me.
Your future plans?
I’m finishing a micro collection for an italian label. We’ll see it in june. I’m preparing an exhibition in Milan, this May 13th. In meanwhile I hope to built more collages for magazines, get more works with StudioFantastico and I hope some exhibitions, maybe in Berlin?
Sounds great! Thank you Diego.
